Our son or daughter — we’re calling him/her ‘Baby Riesland’, and ‘BR’ for short — is about 8 weeks old. 8 weeks.

8 weeks ago, people were stressing what to get for valentines day and looking forward to March madness.

Now, in that short amount of time, little BR has attached nicely to Steph’s insides, and in that little bubble that looks like it could be made of saliva, he/she has already begun developing all major organs, sprouted two arms and two legs, and is busy developing the brain. And that whole package is way smaller than an inch.

And all our pregnancy books tell us that doctors have no idea how a fertilized egg gets to this point.

In Psalm 139, it says that God knit me together in my mother’s womb. And in Ephesians 1 it says that I am God’s hand-crafted masterpiece. It uses the Greek word from which we get the word ‘poem’.
