Something Sentimental For Mother’s Day

I just got this forwarded in an email from my aunt Lisa (this would be a link to her blog, if she HAD ONE ahem…).

It’s seriously sappy — and not so Biblical — but it’s cute. And since my mom is an angel, and my angel is about to be a mommy… here ya go:

A baby asked God, ‘They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?’
God said, ‘Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.’

The child further inquired, ‘But tell me, here in heaven I don’t have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.’

God said, ‘Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel’s love and be very happy.’

Again the child asked, ‘And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don’t know the language?’

God said, ‘Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.’

‘And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?’
God said, ‘Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.’
‘Who will protect me?’
God said, ‘Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.’
‘But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.’
God said, ‘Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.’

At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, ‘God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel’s name.’

God said, ‘You will simply call her, ‘Mom.’

Starting to Show

It has been awhile since I’ve written anything, but it’s nice to see what my husband writes experiencing the same things with him. This weekend we had just a sweet time together and hanging out. It is officially the first time since I’ve been pregnant that I haven’t had any morning sickness (praise the Lord). It has been such a transition for me, it’s kind of weird. :0) But I’m soo totally enjoying it. I actually cleaned cleaned the house and made some arroz con pollo for friends that came over.

We enjoyed Saturday because we went to go see Baby Mama. Zack and I both thought it was really funny. After that we went to worship practice and then to Ruby Tuesday’s for some dinner. We enjoyed going to the Christian Bookstore where Zack is always like a little kid in a candy store. It’s really adorable to watch. I think by the time we left there so many things he wanted to get. He settled on getting a talk by Louie Giglio called Hope. I’m sure we’ll enjoy that. As the night came to an end we made one last stop to Marshalls to maybe find some pants for him to wear. We didn’t find any, but we’re still on a mission and on the hunt to find some. :0)

Sunday was really sweet because we got to spend time with Zack’s family. We went out to get some Mexican food (right up my alley) and it was so good to catch up on what is going on with the fam. To walk off all of the Mexican food we went to the mall, and two people who were complete strangers to me knew I was pregnant. I guess I’m starting to show my lil belly. This week I have my regular appointment and I’m hoping that in the next couple of weeks to have more pics of baby Riesland. Keep praying for a safe and healthy baby!

We went strawberry picking!

So, it turns out that Steph and I live just a couple miles away from a big farm where you can pick strawberries. Steph saw the sign one day and put on her adventurer’s hat and went and found it! So Sunday afternoon, we put on our flip-flops and farmer’s hat and went and picked us some strawberries…. well, enough to sink a ship actually. You can see all the photos here. A few of my favorites are below:

Downtown Oxford

A couple weekends back, Steph and I were supposed to go see a friend perform in a play in downtown Oxford. Trouble was, we had bad information. Our friend told us the play started at 7, but when we rolled up right before 7, we saw a sign on the door that said that the play was at 2:30.

4 1/2 hours late.

Thanks for the head’s up :0)

So we decided to walk around downtown, and stopped at this staircase.

This is a special staircase. I sat precisely where you see Steph sitting the very first time that I ever spoke to her. We arranged a ‘phone date’ after emailing back and forth a ton, and after VBS one night, I walked over to these stairs and sat down, and nervously dialed the phone.

That was about 2 years ago, and it’s hard to believe that we already celebrated our first anniversary, and awaiting Baby Riesland in 6 more months!

God is good…

My dad caught this beast of a catfish (about 40 pounds) on 10-pound test in a little pond!

New Photos From Duke Gardens

Steph and I spent a couple hours walking around Duke Gardens yesterday evening. We put on our amateur photographer hats and had some fun with the camera. Of course Steph’s shots were better than mine :0)

You can see all the photos here.

Which one is your favorite?

Precious Moments

The Lord is doing great things in the Riesland household. We have been just blessed by what the Lord has done in our marriage and the new beginnings of our family. Zack already mentioned that visit our doctor’s again yesterday. I so enjoyed sitting in the waiting room chatting with my husband about his day. If you read our blog regularly pray for him because work is stressful these days. But, we sat and laughed about friends and our days before the nurse called me back. The process is funny because you go get your weight checked (fun times), they check your blood pressure, and then you get to pee in a cup. I’m getting to be a pro at it, I make sure I drink a ton of water right before I go to the doctor’s. Then Zack came back with me and we went to see our doctor where she asked a bunch of history questions for both sides of our family before she scooted us over to the ultrasound room.

The best part for Zack and I was when we could see the baby on screen. I’ve seen many a ultrasound before where they have stilled pictures, but I could see the little heart beating away. It took my breath away to see how tiny our baby was and yet his/her little limbs were all over the place like they were dancing. Zack said that the baby was waving at his mom and dad. It’s still so surreal for both of us, especially for me when I think back a couple of months ago thinking how much I wanted to be a mom. I will never forget a mentor of mine telling me that in the fullness of time God would bring me my mate. He has also brought our first child into our lives at just the right moment! :0)

Ladies and Gentlemen, Meet Baby Riesland

We took our third trip to the doctor yesterday and we got to see our little guy/girl!

As you can see, Baby Riesland is about 10 weeks old and measures about 4 cm from but to head… and somewhat resembles a turtle :0)

I was really excited because it was dancing around like it was having a party or something.

Maybe Steph will write more about it later…

Our weekend in pictures

Friday night we rented “Enchanted”. Neat idea… way too many songs :0(

Spent Saturday morning at church doing some Spring cleaning. I got to balance on top of big ladders…

Then me and my honey went out for a while. I got some Starbucks :0)

We went to Target and scoped out the baby stuff…

Had a little dinner…

Then we watched Indiana Jones… not nearly as good as I was expecting.

This morning, we played hookey from church, and had some Bible study time at McDonalds. We talked about the Holy Spirit, and abiding in Christ.

We came home and watched “She’s Having a Baby”. It was… weird.

And now we’re trying to figure out what to do next, which will probably amount to popping in another baby-related movie. Steph will be all bundled up in a blanket and hard-core into it, and I’ll probably keep goofing around on the internet or change my guitar strings or something random… Sundays are great!
